How to Get an Upgrade in Pokemon SoulSilver

The Upgrade is an item introduced in the second generation "Gold," "Silver" and "Crystal" Pokemon games. It evolves Porygon into Porygon2 when Porygon is traded. Unlike other evolution-inducing held items such as the Metal Coat, Razor Claw and Razor Fang, the Upgrade has no in-battle effects, as its sole function is to evolve Porygon. In the "HeartGold" and "SoulSilver" games for the Nintendo DS, you can obtain the Upgrade inside the Silph Co. building located in Saffron City.

Instructions

  Defeat the Elite Four and Lance. Talk to Professor Elm to obtain the S.S. Ticket. Fly to Olivine City and board the S.S. Anne at the docks.

  Find the captain's daughter in a game of hide and seek, and she will return to the captain's cabin. Talk to the sailor at the ship's entrance, and he will announce that the ship has arrived in Vermilion City. Exit the ship.
- 3
  Head north onto Route 6 and continue north through the gatehouse to reach Saffron City. Enter the Silph Co. building and talk to the guard on the first floor to obtain the Upgrade.
