Examine the Voltorb Flip board layout. Each column and row ends with the depiction of a number atop an image of a Voltorb and another number. The Voltorb and number pairing indicates the number of Voltorbs in that particular row or column, while the top number indicates the sum of all the numbers in the rows and columns.

Select spaces in rows and columns that have only two, three or four Voltorbs when you start off. A player may uncover the numbers 1, 2 or 3. The player may also uncover a Voltorb. Each number is multiplied by all the other numbers uncovered. If a player uncovers a 1 and then a 2, the player earns 2 coins (1 x 2). If a player uncovers a 1, a 2, and then a 3, the player earns 6 coins (1 x 2 x 3). If a player uncovers two of the number 1, the player earns one coin (1 x 1). The player loses all coins if a Voltorb is uncovered.

Look at the Voltorb symbols at the end of each row and column as you uncover spaces. In a row that has a sum of six and zero Voltorbs, a player who uncovers a 2 can conclude that the remaining four numbers in the row are all the number 1. Select the "Memo" function to place a marker on a tile that you believe may have a Voltorb behind it. This can prevent you from forgetting and uncovering a Voltorb card.

Choose to quit the game before finishing. While players will "lose" the game, they do not have to forfeit coins already earned. Players can avoid losing all coins through forfeiting early, rather than playing until hitting a Voltorb. While players may earn less during each game, coin wins are more likely, hastening the coin-earning process.
