How to Get Thunder Punch in Pearl

Pearl and Diamond are the first of the popular Pokemon series designed for the Nintendo DS. It has improved graphics and utilizes a DS touch screen for mini-games like Cooking and dual battles. You will find TM throughout the game. Each TM can be learned by a specific Pokemon. In Pokemon Pearl and Diamond, the Thunder Punch TM is not findable. Pokemon from older games can develop naturally or learn it. You need to defeat all the gym leaders to unlock the GBA slot in order to get Thunder Punch for Pokemon Pearl.

Instructions

  Defeat the first five gym leaders: Roark (Rock), Gardenia (Grass), Maylene (Fighting), Wake (Water) and Fantina (Ghost).

  Visit Route 218 and capture a Ditto. It's a shape-changing Pokemon. Ditto is the perfect breeder. It is gender neutral and any Pokemon it's bred with returns an egg of the other parent type.

  Defeat the remaining gym leaders and the Elite Four to unlock new features within Pokemon Pearl. Insert Pokemon FireRed in the GBA slot and the random Pokemon encounters for each area changes with FireRed Pokemon. Visit Route 205 or Valley Windworks to capture Elekid. This Pokemon develops Thunder punch with leveling.

  Visit Pal Park. Wild FireRed Pokemon can be caught in this area. Unlike in step 3, you choose which FireRed or LeafGreen Pokemon will be released into Pal Park. Hitmonchan and Ampharos learn Thunder Punch naturally in FireRed. Other Pokemons like Pikachu, NidoKing, NidoQueen, Abra or Machop can learn it through a FireRed TM. You can migrate six Pokemons at a time into the park. These Pokemons are permanently removed from your FireRed collection.

  Visit the Day Care building in Solaceon City. Leaving two compatible Pokemons with the attendants results in a Pokemon egg. Breeding any FireRed Pokemon who already knows Thunder Punch with Ditto results in an egg. The Pokemon from this egg knows Thunder Punch from level one.
