How to Make R4i Work on the DSi 1.4U

R4i cards are memory devices for Nintendo DSi handheld gaming consoles. The R4i consists of a DS game cartridge with a slot for a microSD card to be inserted and to act as storage for the console. Gamers can use homebrew programs to use the R4i card to play music and video on their DS consoles. To ensure that the R4i card is compatible with the DSi, download the latest kernel from the R4i-SDHC website.

Instructions

    • 1

      Navigate to the R4i website.

    • 2

Click "Downloads." This will take you to the download page so that you can get the latest kernel for your R4i.

    • 3

Scroll down to find your R4i card. Click on the download link for the latest kernel in the language you require. Save the file to your chosen download folder.

    • 4

Right-click on the downloaded zip file and select "Extract All." Open the folder.

    • 5

Insert the microSD card into your USB card reader and drag all the extracted fies into the microSD folder. These will be called "moonmemo," "moonshl2," "R4iMenu," and "R4.dat." If you are asked if you would like to replace existing files with the same names, select "Yes" or "Yes to All." Once the files have finished copying, the R4i will now be compatible with your DSi 1.4U. Insert the microSD card into the R4i card and insert that into the DSi.
