How Do I Get Into the Dragon's Den in Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver?

In "Pokemon HeartGold" and "SoulSilver," Dragon-type Pokemon are valuable due to their strong defensive abilities against most types of attacks. Dragon Pokemon are also few in number and hard to catch in the wild, except in the Dragon's Den, where they are all over the place. However, you can't just walk into the Dragon's Den; the cavern is your reward for progressing to a certain point in the game.

Instructions

  Defeat Clair in the Blackthorn Gym to gain access to the Dragon's Den. Clair primarily uses Dragon-type Pokemon, and she fights you with a Gyarados, two Dragonairs and a Kingdra. Dragon-types are weak to Ice-type moves and other Dragon attacks, so bring any of your Pokemon who have them into the battle. After you win, Clair denies you a gym badge and retreats to the Dragon's Den.

  Walk into the Dragon Den and defeat Clair again to obtain the Rising Badge. With Clair defeated at the gym, the man who was blocking the entrance to the cave disappears.

  Enter the cave and search for Clair. You will encounter many wild Dratinis and Magikarps that you can fight or catch in the cavern, and you will need a Pokemon with the Surf move, as much of the cavern is filled with water. Clair will now fight a tag battle with Lance, the other Dragon trainer, and you will have to defeat six Dragon-types this time. If you win, you will receive the Rising Badge.

  Go to the dragon shine at the rear of the cave, and talk to the Dragon Master. He will quiz you on your attitudes toward Pokemon. Give only positive answers to obtain the special Dratini with the Extreme Speed special move; negative or cruel answers will result in him giving you a weaker Dratini instead.

  Search the Dragon's Den to find the rest of the hidden items inside of it. There are a number of rare items in the Dragon's Den you should claim before you leave. After you defeat Clair, she will give you a TM for the Dragon Breath move. At the entrance of the Dragon's Den, speak to her again to gain the Dragon Pulse TM. If you have the Whirlpool ability, use it to find the Dragon Fang upgrade on the eastern shore.
