How to Use the Fishing Pole in 'Sims 2: Castaways' DS

Finding food is one of the most import aspects of survival in "The Sims 2: Castaway" for the Nintendo DS. The fishing pole gives your Sim the option to fish for his dinner in both saltwater and freshwater sources. In order to fish, your Sim must have already built the fishing pole at a work bench using bamboo, thread and a nail. You must also collect bait before fishing or else the fish will not be interested in your lure.

Instructions

  Check under rocks to look for bugs to use as bait. Each fish has a different favorite bait, so collect multiple bug types to achieve the best results.

  Tap on the big rock in either the diving point in the sea or by the waterfall at the lake to fish in either saltwater or freshwater, respectively. This will begin the fishing mini-game.

  Select the type of bait you want to use from the bait box on the right side of the screen.

  Drag the stylus slowly toward the fish to see whether it will take the bait. A thought bubble will appear by the fish's head. If the fish likes the bait, a heart will be displayed, if not, a different color bug will be shown instead. Switch to that color of bug and try again until you get the correct type of bait.

  Drag the fish to the net on the left side of the screen when the fish bites the bait. When hooked, a health bar for the fish will be displayed on the top of the screen, and it will rapidly begin to lower. You must drag the fish into the net before its health runs out completely to catch it.
