How to Watch Movies on a Nintendo DSi XL

The Nintendo DSi XL allows users to play games with Nintendo DS cartridges. At first glance, the DSi XL would appear not to be able to play movie files transferred from a computer, but with the application of one-of-a-kind third-party software, transferring movie files can be done in a few steps.

Things You'll Need

Computer with USB port and internet access
iPlayer Software
MicroUSB card and adapter
iPlayer DSi adapter cartridge

Instructions

  Purchase or download the DSi Player software and unzip the data file on the included disc. Move the files to the micro USB disk.

  Drag and drop movie files into the "VIDEO" folder on the MicroUSB disk. Compatible movie files for iPlayer include AVI, RMVB, MOV, DIVX, MPEG, FLV, 3GP, ASF and WMV.

  Eject the MicroUSB disc and place it in the iPlayer DSi adapter cartridge.

  Insert the iPlayer cartridge into the DSi XL and power it on. Use the touchscreen to navigate to your movie file.
