How to Get an Omanyte in Pokemon: SoulSilver

The ancient crustacean, Pokemon Omanyte, went extinct long ago, but its fossilized remains led to its revival in may of the "Pokemon" games. The Helix Fossil, from which Omanyte resurrects, cannot be found in "Pokemon: SoulSilver." Instead, players can acquire the Dome Fossil, which leads to the revival of the extinct Kabuto. However, players can still acquire Omanyte in "SoulSilver" through the use of "Pokemon: HeartGold." All fossils appear in the Ruins of Alph.

Instructions

  Travel to the Johto region in "HeartGold." Go to the Ruins of Alph, which lie south of Route 36 and north of Union Cave. You should have a Pokemon in your party that knows the ability "Rock Smash." Pokemon can only learn "Rock Smash" through the use of HM06. Pokemon that can learn the ability include Charmander, Bulbasaur, Nidoran, Raticate, Pikachu and Sudowoodo, among others.

  Enter the Ruins of Alph. Walk toward rocks located in the ruins and use the Rock Smash ability. Repeat this process until you obtain the Helix Fossil. Play through the rest of the game, traveling to each town and defeating their respective gym leaders, until you arrive in Pewter City.

  Go to the Pewter City Museum and speak to the workers there. The workers can revive Omanyte from the Helix Fossil, adding it to your party at Level 20. Save your game. Insert "SoulSilver" into a second Nintendo DS system. Enlist a friend to play "SoulSilver" while you play "HeartGold." Both players should travel to the bottom floor of any Pokemon Center to obtain the Pal Pad.

  Access your Pal Pad to find your friend code. From the game's menu, pick "Bag" and then "Key Items." Select "Pal Pad." Pick "Use" and then navigate to the word "Code." Choose this option. Your friend should repeat this process on "SoulSilver." Players should exchange their respective codes.

  Repeat Step 4, but select "Register Friend Code" instead of "Code." Enter your friend's contact information and the code for his game. Your friend should enter the information you gave him in Step 4. Both players should now speak to the Wi-Fi Club Representative in any Pokemon Center.

  Select "Yes" four times after speaking to the Wi-Fi Club Representative to enter the trade screen. Here, you will see a menu listing your friend's name. Select your friend's name and choose "Invite to Trade." In trade, select "Omanyte" from your list of Pokemon in "HeartGold." Accept the trade. You now have Omanyte in your copy of "SoulSilver." Both players should save their respective games.
