John Deere: Harvest in the Heartland Cheats

"John Deere: Harvest in the Heartland" was released in November 2007 by Destineer, a video game creator, for the Nintendo DS. In this game, players must build up their farm, by plowing, planting and growing crops and buying John Deere farming equipment. While there are no cheat codes for this game, there are several hints that can help you on your way to beating the game.
  1. Beginning the Game

    • When you start playing "John Deere: Harvest in the Heartland," you begin small, only able to plant and grow two crops at a time. You are also able to have a couple of animals, such as sheep or goats, in the beginnings of the game. Use the touch screen and stylus to click on everything you want to do. For example, use the stylus to click on the watering can to water your crops, or click on the goats to milk them.

    Commodities Market

    • When you raise crops and livestock you are able to sell them at the commodities market and county fair. After you collect your money, you can reinvest that money into purchasing more John Deere equipment to advance your farm. You can also enter your livestock and crops into contests at the county fair. If you win one of these contests, you win a variety of prizes and notoriety among your fellow farmers.

    Tools

    • There are a variety of tools available to you in the "John Deere: Harvest of the Heartland" game; such as the Query Tool, which will let you know the status of all your crops and animals on the farm. With the purchasing tool, you can buy more land to expand your farm and different types of farming equipment, such as tractors and plows, to make farming easier. You will also get the chance to build more buildings for your farm with this tool. There is also an area in the game where you can design your farm's logo using the stylus -- so your farm can be easily identified by others in the market and fair.

    Considerations

    • Other things in the game include fences, so your animals don't escape, sprinklers for your crops and various other types of farming tools and equipment. The game allows city-dwellers the chance to work on a farm and doing all the needed chores, such as milking the cows, tending the other livestock and driving John Deere equipment, without having to do the actual work.
