How to Defeat Petrel in Pokemon: Soul Silver at Goldenrod City

In the video game "Pokemon SoulSilver," Petrel is one of the high-ranking members of Team Rocket that have taken the Goldenrod Radio Tower for their own nefarious purposes. His team of five Koffing and a Weezing are dangerous to Pokemon trainers who have little experience with poison-type Pokemon. This pair of floating purple Poison Gas Pokemon are tough creatures that learn devastating techniques such as selfdestruct, sludge and explosion. Bringing the right combination of Pokemon to challenge Petrel will instantly tip the odds in your favor.

Instructions

- 1
  Meet Petrel on the fourth floor of the Goldenrod City's Radio Tower. He is disguised as the Radio Tower's owner and he reveals his Team Rocket affiliation when you talk to him.

  Bring along a team of Pokemon that are at level 30 or higher. All of Petrel's Koffing are at level 30, and his Weezing is a level 30 toxic terror.

  Start the battle with a steel or psychic-type Pokemon. A strong steel-type Pokemon can win this fight on its own since creatures like Steelix and Mawile are completely immune to Poison attacks. Steel types easily shrug off powerful normal-type attacks like selfdestruct and explosion that are commonly used by Koffing and Weezing. Slam these gassy creatures with psychic-type attacks since they hurt Koffing and Weezing with twice the damage as an average hit.
