My Nintendo DSi Is Stuck On With a Blank Screen

No battles to win or puzzles to be solved --- only a dark, blank screen faces you when you turn on your Nintendo DSi. To make matters worse, your DSi won't power down so you can restart it. Because the Nintendo DSi has a rechargeable battery, you can wait until the battery runs out and it shuts down or you can remove the battery and cut off the DSi's power source, forcing it to turn off.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the AC adapter from your Nintendo DSi to cut off power supply to the battery. Press the power button and hold for about one second to test if the DSi will power off. Remove the battery only if necessary.

    • 2

Locate the two screws on the back of the DSi that hold the battery cover on. Loosen the screws with a small Philips-head screwdriver. Remove the battery cover.

    • 3

Place your DSi on a sturdy surface with the back side facing up. Turn the DSi so that the battery end is farthest from you.

    • 4

Insert your fingernail between the left edge of the battery and the DSi. Gently lift the battery out of its compartment and remove it from the DSi.

    • 5

Slide the battery back into the battery compartment. Insert the right side of the battery first. Press the battery firmly into place.

    • 6

Put the battery cover back on. Tighten the two screws, being careful not to over-tighten. Test that the screws are tightened by trying to lift the battery compartment cover off again.

    • 7

Turn on your DSi and check that it starts correctly. If the DSi gets stuck on again, remove the battery again and repower your DSi with a different game inserted to verify if the game is corrupted.
