A TTDS is a memory device that attaches to Nintendo DS portable gaming consoles. Though having the device is legal, it is not legal to play games from the device without owning the game. Most users use the TTDS to play backup games or to run home brew applications. Every so often, the manufacturer updates the kernel firmware of the TTDS to support new features and to fix bugs in previous versions. In this case, it is best practice to keep the kernel up to date.
