How to Get Past the Tree on Route 30 in SoulSilver

While playing through the Nintendo DS video game "Pokemon SoulSilver," you will find your progress blocked on Route 36 by a strange dancing tree. This tree is actually a Pokemon called Sudowoodo, and you need to battle it in order to continue with the game. You need to use an item called a Squirtbottle to get Sudowoodo to stop dancing and battle you. This is the only time you get to battle a wild Sudowoodo during the game, so make sure you catch it for your Pokedex.

Instructions

  Defeat Whitney, the Pokemon Gym Leader in Goldenrod City. She has a Level 17 Clefairy and a level 19 Miltak, both Normal-type Pokemon that are very weak to Fighting-type attacks.

  Leave the gym and go to the left. Go into the pink house just to the west of the gym and talk to the lady inside to get the Squirtbottle.

  Head north out of Goldenrod on Route 35, and turn right onto Route 36. Here you will find Sudowoodo blocking the path.

  Walk up to the Sudowoodo and press the "A" button. When a prompt comes up asking if you want to use the Squirtbottle, select "Yes."

  Battle Sudowoodo, which is a Level 20 Rock-type Pokemon that is very weak to Water, Grass, Steel, Ground and Fighting-type attacks. Wear down its health until it is showing in the red and you can throw a Pokeball to catch it. With Sudowoodo out of the way you can now continue up Route 36.
