How to Get the Items to Build the Fishing Rod on The Sims 2: Castaway

The fishing rod is an important item in "The Sims 2: Castaway" because it allows your Sim to catch fish, which he can cook in recipes or use to trade with other Sims on the island. The fishing rod allows you to catch fish that are not available when you use the fishing spear. To build the fishing rod, you need only bring the necessary items to the crafting table. However, getting the nails, thread and bamboo needed to build the fishing rod requires additional work on your Sim's behalf.

  Click on the crates that arrive on the beach every day to search for nails. You only need a single nail for the fishing rod, however the contents of the crates are random, so it may take several days for you to find a nail.

  Click on a vine to harvest it. Bring the vine to the crafting table to turn the vine into thread. You must have the knife to create thread. You will automatically obtain the knife when you complete Chef Butcher's quests.

  Trade one palm frond and one flint with Mrs. Weeder to receive bamboo seeds. Find palm fronds randomly on beaches while you dig up flints using your shovel. You must complete all of Mrs. Weeder's quests to be able to trade with her and to unlock the shovel.

  Plant the bamboo seed to grow a bamboo plant. Click on a mound of dirt to plant the seed and click it again to water it. When the bamboo is fully matured, click on the plant to harvest it.

  Click on the crafting table when you have all of these items to craft the fishing rod.
