How to Blow in the Microphone on DS Emulator

Many games on the Nintendo Dual Screen (DS) utilize the device's microphone as a part of the game mechanics. Games force you to speak or blow into the microphone to complete certain levels. Often, Nintendo DS emulators fail to offer an alternative for microphone-based mechanics. However, the emulator No Cash GBA (No$GBA) recognizes your computer's microphone as the Nintendo DS microphone. The emulator is available for free on its official website and functions with Windows computers.

Instructions

  1. Computer Microphone

    • 1

Connect a USB or headphone jack microphone to your computer.

    • 2

Click on the "Start" menu and scroll to "Control Panel." Double-click on the "Sound" icon.

    • 3

Press the "Recording" tab and locate the icon of your microphone. Highlight the microphone and click on the "Set as Default" button. Press "Apply," then "OK."

    • 4

Open your Nintendo DS emulator and navigate to the portion of the game where you blow into the microphone.

    • 5

Speak into the microphone. Typically, a computer microphone requires a louder input than the DS microphone.

    Audacity

    • 6

Visit the Audacity website and click on the "Download" button.

    • 7

Install Audacity by following the instructions that appear at the installation prompt. Double-click on the "Audacity" icon to launch the program.

    • 8

Open the "Sound" menu and scroll to "Stereo Mix." This adjusts your computer so that it recognizes output as input.

    • 9

Open your Nintendo DS emulator and navigate to the portion of the game where you blow into the microphone.

    • 10

Launch a media player such as iTunes, VLC or Windows Media Player. Double-click on a song or video file to play it. The DS emulator recognizes this sound as microphone input.
