Starter Pokemon
From the start of your "Pokemon Black" or "White" adventure, you are presented with a choice of three Pokemon as your starter. Players pick from Tepig the Fire Pig, Snivy the Grass Snake, or Oshawott the Sea Otter Pokemon. These creatures quickly evolve into much larger and stronger forms. The other two Pokemon you do not choose must be traded to your game from another version of "Black" or "White."
Legendary Pokemon
"Black" and "White" introduce a number of legendary Pokemon that can only be caught once per save file. Late in the game, you will be able to encounter the fabled Tornadus or Thundurus, depending on the version you are playing. If you can catch one and transfer the other to your game, you will then be able to meet Landorus. This trio is only an example of the immensely powerful and legendary Pokemon found in these two games.
White-Exclusive Pokemon
As with every series of "Pokemon" games, some Pokemon can only be captured in certain versions. For example, players can only capture wild Rufflets and Braviary eagle creatures in "Pokemon White." Another glaringly obvious exclusive Pokemon is Zekrom, the massive black monster on the box's cover. The Psychic-type Solosis and its evolutionary family are found only in "Pokemon White." Blue Basculin fish are commonly found in this version, while its red variant is much more exotic.
Black-Exclusive Pokemon
"Pokemon Black" holds the counterparts of all of the exclusive monsters found in "Pokemon White." Red Basculin fish swim through most of the game's waterways. The whispy, white Reshiram is the insanely strong Fire and Dragon-type Pokemon gracing the cover of "Pokemon Black." Vullaby and Mandibuzz, its evolved form, are the dark vulture-like complements to the eagles found in "Pokemon White." "Pokemon Black" has its own trio of Psychic Pokemon: Gothita, Gothorita and Gothielle.
