How to Restore the Internet on a DSi

The Nintendo DSi is the third iteration of the popular Nintendo DS portable handheld game system. The DSi features a larger screen than either the original Nintendo DS or the DS Lite. Other enhancements include a camera, better sound quality, SD card functionality and the ability to play DSiWare games and download other applications through the built-in Nintendo Wi-Fi connection. Setting up or restoring an Internet connection requires some menu navigation within the DSi operating system.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your DSi by opening the DSi system and pressing the power button on the left side of the touch screen.

    • 2

Move the cursor to the Setting menu icon -- the wrench -- by using the directional pad and pressing the "A" button or by tapping the icon with the stylus.

    • 3

Scroll to the third System Settings page and select the "Internet" option on the bottom of the screen.

    • 4

Restore a connection by tapping "Connection Settings" and tapping one of the Connection options. Tap "Clear Settings" to reset the network information.

    • 5

Tap "Search for an Access Point." The DSi will then scan for any wireless signals or hotspots. Make sure you are in an area of your home that can receive wireless signals. If you are outside of your home, make sure you are at a wireless hotspot.

    • 6

Select one of the wireless networks that appear on the DSi screen. Depending on the network chosen, additional log-in information, such as a Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) key or Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) key, may be required. A lock at the bottom of the screen will show to what type of network the DSi is connected. An unlocked icon means it is an open network. A locked gold icon requires a WEP key. A locked gray icon requires a WPA key.

Tap "OK," "Save Settings" and "Yes" to save the login information for the wireless network.
