Enter the cave to the north of the research center in the Ruins of Alph.
Examine the pedestal in the cave to start the first puzzle. Move the broken off squares onto the picture of Kabuto to fix it. The image is perfectly symmetrical, which makes this puzzle easy to complete. You fall through the floor after completing the puzzle.
Capture the "A" through "J" Unown in the room you fell into. Follow the path to reach the exit when finished. There are no special tricks to capturing Unown. Use attacks to lower its health bar until it turns red and throw a Poke Ball.
Return to the first cave.
Examine the panel at the back of the cave. Use an Escape Rope after examining the panel to open the hidden room. You can find items in each hidden room.
Go to the second cave. It is located south of the research center. You need a Pokemon with the Surf skill to cross the lake blocking the way to this cave.
Examine the pedestal to start the puzzle, which is a picture of Aerodactyl. The head pieces go into the top left corner and the tail pieces go into the bottom left corner.
Capture the "R" through "V" Unown in the room you fell into.
Examine the back panel of the second cave. Use the Flash skill with one of your Pokemon to open the second hidden room.
Go to Union Cave, which is located on Route 32. The other two Ruins of Alph puzzle caves are not actually accessible from the Ruins of Alph itself. You need to go underground through Union Cave to reach them.
Take the northwest ladder in Union Cave. Go northwest until you reach a fork in the path. The top path of the fork goes to the third puzzle cave. The bottom path of the fork goes to the fourth puzzle cave. The path to each cave is linear after the fork. You need a Pokemon with the Strength skill to move the boulder blocking the way to the fourth puzzle cave.
Examine the pedestal in the third puzzle cave. The puzzle is a picture of Ho-Oh. The head goes in the center, the feet go directly below the head and the wing tips are placed on the left and right side of the puzzle.
Capture the "W" through "Z" Unown in the room you enter after solving the puzzle.
Place Ho-Oh as the first Pokemon on your team.
Examine the back panel to open the third hidden room. The requirement for this hidden room was to have Ho-Oh as the first Pokemon on your team.
Examine the pedestal in the fourth puzzle cave. This puzzle is a picture of Omanyte. The shell pieces go in the right section of the puzzle and the tentacle pieces go along the bottom of the puzzle.
Capture the "K" through "Q" Unown in the room you enter after solving the puzzle.
Examine the back panel of the fourth puzzle cave. Use a Water Stone from your inventory to open the fourth hidden room.
Talk to a scientist in the research center to register you have captured all 26 alphabetical Unown. Talk to the scientist again to get pages from the Unown Report.
Go to the cave to the west of the research center. Examine the back panel. A scientist returns you to the research center. Return to the cave again to complete the Ruins of Alph Sidequest. You can capture the "!" and "?" Unown in this room.
