How to Get Strength in SoulSilver

In various editions of Pokemon, including "SoulSilver" and its companion game "HeartGold," there are certain types of items called TMs (technical machines) and HMs (hidden machines). These machines can be used to teach your Pokemon various skills and increase their abilities far beyond their natural skill sets. One of the most interesting of these is the Strength HM, which teaches your Pokemon a powerful physical battle ability. What makes this Hidden Machine incredibly useful is the fact that it can be used outside of battle to remove boulders from your character's path.

Instructions

- 1
  Travel to Ecruteak City. You should be at about the point in the game where you have defeated Jasmine in Olivine City and obtained her Mineral Badge.

  Travel east along Route 42 on your way to Mount Mortar. It is the same road that leads to Mahogany City.

  Enter the first cave that you come across. As you are about to enter the mouth of the cave, a hiker will appear.

  Talk to him and he will give you HM04, which will allow you to teach your Pokemon the Strength skill and allow you to move the boulders inside the cave and in various other places. This badge is necessary for further game progression.
