How to Write in Color on PictoChat

Every iteration of the Nintendo DS comes with "PictoChat," a chat program allowing you to chat with up to 16 people who are in close proximity. The Nintendo DSi and DSi XL improved on PictoChat by adding the option of writing and drawing in a rainbow color. This feature is only available on the DSi and DSi XL. You can view the rainbow colors on the DS and DS Lite, but they cannot produce it themselves.

     Select "PictoChat" from the main menu of your Nintendo DSi or DSi XL.

     Select a chat room to enter.

     Tap the icon of the pen on the left side of the bottom screen. The pen flashes in a rainbow color.

     Write a message or draw a picture on the bottom screen. The message is drawn in a rainbow spectrum, using the seven colors found in a rainbow.

     Tap the pen again to change back to the color black.
