How to Get a Burmy in Pokemon SoulSilver

Burmy is a bug-type Pokemon found in "Pokemon SoulSilver" and other games in the Pokemon franchise. Since Burmy is a bug, it can only be found hanging inside trees. This is usually not a problem as your Pokemon are taught the Headbutt ability early in the game, which allows you to extract Pokemon living in trees. However, the only trees that house Burmy are located high in the mountains, which requires the Rock Climb ability -- an ability that is only unlocked near the end of the game.

Instructions

    • 1

Defeat the eight Gym Leaders in Kanto and the eight Gym Leaders in Johto and collect their badges.

    • 2

Return to Professor Oak in Pallet Town and show him all 16 badges to obtain HM08. Use this item on any of your Pokemon to teach it Rock Climb.

    • 3

Travel to Route 38 and use the Rock Climb ability to scale the cliff that is adjacent to Route 39. The portion of the cliff that can use the Rock Climb ability looks like a rocky path up an incline plane.

    • 4

Walk east into Route 39 and continue until you reach a tree that is blocking your path. Press the "A" button next to the tree to select Headbutt. This will cause a wild Pokemon encounter with a Burmy.

    • 5

Attack the Burmy using your best Pokemon until you have weakened it, then select a Pokeball from your menu to capture the Burmy.
