How to Catch a Mew in Diamond Without Using Action Replay

Mew is a rare legendary Pokemon in the Pokemon universe. At the time of publication, if you do not want to use an Action Replay, the only way to get Mew is to obtain a special item at a Nintendo Pokemon Event. Nintendo hosts these events sporadically throughout the country. While this can be inconvenient, it is the only legitimate way to get Mew in Pokemon Diamond and other Pokemon games on the Nintendo DS.

GameBoy Advance
Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite

Instructions

  Go to a Nintendo Event in your area with your GameBoy Advance (GBA) and a copy of Pokemon Emerald. Pokemon events are listed on the official Pokemon website.

  Get the "Old Sea Map" from the Nintendo Event.

  Go to the harbor in Slateport City and take the ferry to "Faraway Island." You can only choose to travel to this location if you have the "Old Sea Map."

  Follow the path around the island until you reach the forest. Upon entering the forest, you will run into Mew.

  Chase Mew until you get him cornered and walk up to him and press the "A" button.

  Fight Mew and capture him. Mew is level 30, so use Pokemon that are around that level.

  Save your game.

  Insert your copy of Pokemon Emerald into the GBA slot of your Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite.

  Turn on your DS and start up Pokemon Diamond.

  Defeat the Elite Four and get the National Pokedex.

  Travel to Pal Park on Route 221.

  Select Mew as a Pokemon you would like to transfer and enter Pal Park.

  Travel to the forest area of Pal Park and walk around until you get into a random encounter with Mew. Throw a Park Ball to capture Mew. It has a 100 percent capture rate.
