How to Let Eggs Hatch Fast in Pokemon Platinum

Hatching a Pokemon egg is the final step in the long process of Pokemon breeding in the Nintendo DS "Pokemon Platinum." Once you have got hold of a Pokemon egg you must carry it around in your traveling party until it hatches, but there is only a chance of the egg hatching every 255 steps. How long it takes to hatch the egg depends on the species of Pokemon inside, but there are a couple of ways to speed up the process.

  Place the egg you want to hatch in any slot in your traveling party of six Pokemon.

  Add a Pokemon with the ability Flame Body or Magma Armor to your party to make the egg hatch twice as quickly -- with this ability you will get two chances every 255 steps rather than one. Magmar, Slugma and Litwick are common Pokemon that have these abilities.

  Run up and down in an area without any other trainers, long grass or wild Pokemon -- stopping to fight battles will only slow you down.

  Get a bicycle from the bike shop in Eterna City and ride it up and down the cycle path on Route 206 to cover a lot of steps quickly.
