How to Get the Ruin Maniacs Cave Extension

In "Pokemon Diamond," you can use the Maniac Tunnel to transverse between the Solaceon Ruins and Route 214. Before the Ruin Maniacs Cave Extension, nonplayer characters refer to the Maniac Tunnel as the Ruin Maniacs Cave. Each time you capture an Unown, the Ruin Maniac will dig to make the tunnel extend further. Once you capture 26 different types of Unowns, the Ruin Maniacs Cave will become the Maniac Tunnel. Each Unown represents one letter of the English alphabet.

Instructions

  Go to the Ruin Maniacs Cave, which is west of Route 214. Speak to the Ruin Manic, who is the man inside. He will challenge you to a race. Your objective is to capture the 26 Unown before he completes the Ruin Maniacs Cave Extension.

  Head to Veilstone City to shop at the Veilstone Department Store. On the first floor of the five-story building, talk to the left cashier. Buy about 200 Ultra Balls for 1,200 PokeDollars each. You will use these Ultra Balls to catch the Unown. Train a Dark-, Bug- or Ghost-type Pokemon to Level 20. Make it the first Pokemon in your party.

  Make a real-life list that consists of all of the letters of the alphabet. You will use this list to make sure you don't capture the same Unown twice. Travel east of Solaceon Town to find the Solaceon Ruins. The entrance is directly east of the town's Pokemon Center.

  Explore the cave to find the 26 different Unown. You will only encounter Unown in the Solaceon Cave. Weaken the Unown with Bug-, Dark- and Ghost-type moves. Once the Unown has low hitpoints, throw Ultra Balls to capture the Pokemon. Cross out items on the list to keep track of the Unowns you still need to obtain.

  Return to the Ruin Maniacs Cave, which is now the Maniac Tunnel. Talk to the Ruin Maniac and he will declare that the race ended in a tie. Use the Maniac Tunnel to travel between Route 214 and Solaceon Town.
