How to Get the Hoenn Starters in 'Pokemon SoulSilver'

Starter Pokemon are the first three Pokemon available to a player when you start a new game. In "Pokemon SoulSilver," the starter Pokemon are Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile -- also known as the Johto Starters, because the game begins in the Johto region of the Pokemon world. The Hoenn Starters, Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip, are the starting Pokemon for "Pokemon Emerald," "Pokemon Ruby" and "Pokemon Sapphire." The Hoenn Starters are available in "Pokemon SoulSilver," but you must finish the main storyline first.

     Play through the game's storyline. Defeat the final boss Red using your best Pokemon to complete the story.

     Travel to Silph Co. Headquarters in Saffron City after defeating Red at Mt. Silver.

     Talk to Steven Stone next to the receptionist's desk on the first floor of Silph Co. Headquarters. He will ask you to pick from one of three colored stones.

     Select the Green Stone to obtain a Treecko. Select the Red Stone to obtain a Torchic. Select the Blue Stone to obtain a Mudkip.
