How to Get Your Pokedex in SoulSilver

The Pokedex in "Pokemon SoulSilver" is an index of all Pokemon in the Johto and Kanto regions, where "Pokemon SoulSilver" takes place. When you first receive the Pokedex, it contains no entries. Your task, as Professor Oak explains in the game, is to gather data on different Pokemon to fill the Pokedex. When you have completed the main storyline of "Pokemon SoulSilver," you will have encountered or had a chance to encounter every Pokemon in the Pokedex.

Instructions

  Insert the "Pokemon SoulSilver" game cartridge in your Nintendo DS and turn on the power.

  Touch the game title to start the game.

  Visit Professor Elm's lab in your hometown, New Bark Town, to begin your Pokemon journey. Professor Elm gives you your first Pokemon in the game, known as your starter Pokemon.

  Listen as Professor Elm asks you to visit Mr. Pokemon's house north of Cherrygrove City to do an errand for him.

  Walk west from New Bark Town to Route 29 to reach Cherrygrove City. Turn north after the Poke Mart building to find Route 30. Mr. Pokemon's house is in the upper-right corner of Route 30, below Dark Cave.

  Enter Mr. Pokemon's house. Mr. Pokemon gives you a mystery egg and asks you to take it back to Professor Elm for examination.

  Listen to Professor Elm's colleague, Professor Oak, when he approaches you after you receive the egg. He gives you the Pokedex, explains how it works and tells you that he would like you to complete it for him.

  Return to Professor Elm's lab in New Bark Town to give him the mystery egg.
