Instructions
Touch the stylus to the screen and attempt to press onscreen buttons. If the stylus is not responding as it should, locate the game settings for the game you are playing and adjust the responsiveness of your stylus. Different games have different stylus settings, so you will have to adjust the settings to use your stylus to its full potential.
Look at the touch screen as you play to ensure that all objects are appearing clearly and are not blurry or dim. If you can't see properly, make sure the screen is tilted so you can see it straight on to increase visibility. Ensure that your screen protector is licensed by Nintendo, because other screen protectors can become yellowed over time. Adjust the brightness settings if the screen is too dim and you can't see properly.
Turn off the device and examine the LCD screen for any ink blots or splotches of color. If the color spots stay when the device is turned off, the screen is cracked and will need to be serviced by a certified Nintendo technician.
Press the buttons on the control pad during game play. If the buttons do not respond to your touch, consult the game instructions, because not all games require you to use the control keys. If the game you are playing does use the keypad, your device will need to be sent away for repairs.
Open the battery cover if you have spilled a liquid on your DSi. When liquid has been spilled on the device, this can damage the battery. Remove the battery and leave the battery cover open. Allow the system to dry thoroughly before attempting to turn it on again. If the device doesn't turn on, you will need to purchase and install a new battery.
Press the keys to see if they pop back up again or if they stick in place. Sticky game keys are quite common and will require basic cleaning. Turn off the device and turn the screen and system upside down. Gently scrub the sides and surface of the sticky buttons with a clean, dry toothbrush to resolve any issues.
Turn on the device by pressing the power button. If the DSi doesn't turn on, make sure you are pressing the power button with adequate force. If that doesn't work, ensure the battery is fully charged or that the unit is plugged into an AC adapter so that it receives enough power.
Turn off the device by pressing and holding the power button for at least four seconds. If the device doesn't shut off, there is likely a problem with the battery. Remove the battery for a few seconds and replace it. If the device still stays on, you will need to take the device in for repairs.
