How to Take In-Game Screenshots on the DSi

Unlike the PSP, the Nintendo DS does not allow users to take screenshots while playing a game. The only alternative is to set up a digital camera and take a screenshot while the game is in progress. These screenshots need to be perfectly planned to remove any extra glare or blurriness.

Digital camera
Tripod
Macro lens (optional)
Camera remote (optional)

Instructions

  Go to the "System Settings" menu on the Nintendo DS. Use the stylus to select "Screen Brightness."

  Increase the brightness to as high as it can go. Tap on the "Up" arrow until the phone stops getting bright.

  Set up a digital camera on a tripod. Aim the tripod high in the air and pointing down to the Nintendo DS on a hard surface.

  Turn off the camera's flash. A flash will only create glare on the screen and prevent a good screen shot.

  Use a macro lens if you have a DSLR digital camera. The macro lens will pick up details easier.

  Turn off all the lights in the room. The DS screen can provide enough light for the picture.

  Focus on the DS screen. A camera composition will create top screenshots better than both screens in one shot.

  Load and play the game. Position your self so you do not block the camera and the DS screen. The best way is to lay or kneel just in front of the tripod and hang your head to the side.

  Set the remote timer on the camera. This will allow you to play and snap a picture of the screenshot. Use a camera remote to take pictures whenever you want while playing.

  View the pictures and make any adjustments for the tripod or zoom of the camera. Repeat the process for as many screenshots that you want to capture.
