How to Text on a DSi

Texting is a quick and convenient way to use your phone to send messages to a friend or family member, but you may not realize that you can also send text messages with your Nintendo DSi. While gaming is the DSi's primary purpose, you can use the portable device's web browsing feature to log in to an email account and send a message directly to the person's mobile phone account, which turns the email into a text message.

  Open your DSi's browser.

  Go to your email host's web site and log in to your email account.

  Compose a new message and put the person's proper address in the "To" line, which will depend on the recipient's service provider. Email-Unlimited.com has a listing of mobile phone email addresses. For example, a Qwest phone number would have the address "[email protected]", whereas a Verizon number would have the address "[email protected]".

  Type your message in the body and hit "send," and the message will be sent directly to the person's phone as a text message.
