How to Unlock Dialga in SoulSilver

In "Pokemon SoulSilver," you cannot find the legendary Pokemon Dialga in the wild. To get it, you can trade over a Dialga that you or another player captured in "Pokemon Diamond" or "Platinum," or you can complete a special quest to obtain a special Dialga. While the latter method is more difficult, as it requires a special event Arceus that is no longer distributed, the Dialga obtained from it will be level one and come with the move Metal Burst, which it cannot learn otherwise, making the method worth the effort.

Instructions

  Obtain a specimen of the event Arceus that was released at Toys "R" Us in November 2009. Unless you acquired one then and saved it, you will have to trade over Wi-Fi to have a chance of finding one. Place this Arceus at the top of your party.

  Go to the Ruins of Alph and enter the house. A man will stop you and take you to Mystri Stage in the Sinjoh Ruins. Exit the chamber and speak to the Hiker, who will bring you to a house with a PC. Deposit a Pokemon other than Arceus if you have six in your team; you will need an empty spot in your party.

  Speak to Cynthia and follow her to the ruins to start the special Arceus event, which will allow you to choose a single Pokemon (Dialga, Palkia or Giratina) for yourself. Step on the lower left circle to choose Dialga and warp back to the Ruins of Alph.
