Pokemon Diamond Pokedex Help

One of the main goals of any Pokemon game is to catch all of the Pokemon in order to fill your Pokedex. A Pokedex is an electronic encyclopedia containing only Pokemon data. In "Pokemon Diamond," there are a whooping 493 Pokemon available for you to obtain through catching, trading, evolving and even special events. Additionally, if you wish to bypass all of the work, you can enter a code using an Action Replay device to complete your Pokedex. There are two Pokedexes: the Sinnoh Pokedex, which you start with, and the National Pokedex, which you obtain after completing the game. The Sinnoh Pokedex only lets you capture the first 151 Pokemon, whereas the National Pokedex lets you obtain data on all 493 Pokemon.
  1. Catching

    • The most common way to obtain a Pokemon and add its data to your Pokedex is through catching. To catch a Pokemon, you must first weaken it through a variety of attacks. Once its health is in the red area, you can throw a Pokeball at it to catch it. Depending on the Pokemon's capture rate, it may still escape from the Pokeball, even if it is almost knocked out. In this case, you may wish to use a status-altering move that will put it to sleep or paralyze it, increasing your chances of capturing it. Additionally, the type of Pokeball you use will also have a different effect. A Greatball is stronger than a Pokeball, whereas an Ultraball is stronger than a Greatball. The Masterball has a 100% catch rate and will catch any Pokemon without fail. Different Pokemon can be found in different areas and at different times of day. Using the Pokeradar and listening to the television's news channel will also help you find different Pokemon. Inserting the various Game Boy Advance "Pokemon" games into the Nintendo DS system's GBA cartridge slot will also cause different Pokemon to appear in the game.

    Evolution

    • Once you have caught a Pokemon, you can add another entry to your Pokedex if you evolve that Pokemon. Not all Pokemon can evolve and not all Pokemon that evolve happen to evolve the same way. The most common method of evolution is to level-up your Pokemon. The level depends on the Pokemon. You can raise your Pokemon's level through battling or by using rare candies. Other methods of evolution include using evolution stones, raising your Pokemon's happiness or trading.

    Trading

    • Unfortunately, not all 493 Pokemon are available in both games. Some Pokemon are exclusive to "Pokemon Diamond" and some are exclusive to "Pokemon Pearl." In this case, the easiest way to obtain the other version's Pokemon is through trading. By using the trade station found in every Pokemon Center, you can connect with a friend and trade for Pokemon that you do not have. Alternatively, if you do not know anyone who has a Nintendo DS and a Pokemon game, you can trade online using the global trading station, also found in every Pokemon Center. You will need a wireless Internet connection to use the global trading station.

    Action Replay

    • By using an Action Replay device, you can input a certain code that will fill out your Pokedex for you. The code is:
