How to Identify R4 DS Cards

The R4 Revolution card is a type of storage device compatible with the Nintendo DS hand-held console. The card is equipped with a micro-SD card slot that allows the player to store their personal files, including movies, images and backup files of homebrew video games. The micro-SD card can also be used to transfer these files to the DS from a personal computer or laptop. Although the R4 card looks similar to a standard DS game cartridge, differentiating the two is an easy task.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the shape of the card. The R4 card has the same shape and size of a standard Nintendo DS game cartridge. They both fit into Slot 1 found on the back of the DS.

    • 2

Look at the label on the front of the card. An R4 card typically has a black and gray label that reads "R4 - Revolution for DS - (NDSL/NDS)."

    • 3

Look for a micro-SD card slot on the top of the R4 card. The micro-SD card can be inserted and ejected by pushing down on it.
