How to Make Pokemon Stop Following You

In "HeartGold" and "SoulSilver," the first Pokemon in your party serves as your Partner Pokemon. This Pokemon will walk behind you wherever you go. You can interact with this Pokemon and you can check its mood and happiness level. Certain interactions will boost the happiness of your Pokemon. Some "HeartGold" and "SoulSilver" players dislike having a Pokemon follow them. The only legitimate way you can get a Pokemon to stop following you is by riding your bike.

Instructions

  Travel to Goldenrod City, which is north of Route 34 and south of Route 35. Before you can go to Goldenrod City, you must obtain the Hive Badge in Azalea Town from Bugsy, the second gym leader of Kanto.

  Head east of the Goldenrod Department Store to find the Goldenrod Miracle Cycle Shop. Talk to the owner inside, who is behind the counter. Since he isn't getting enough business, he will offer you a free Bicycle so you can advertise for him. Accept his offer.

  Find the Bicycle in the Key Items section of your Bag. Select "Bicycle" and register the Key Item. You will use your Bicycle each time you press "Y."

  Use your Bicycle by pressing "Y." Whenever you ride your Bicycle, your Partner Pokemon will go back into its Pokeball.
