How to Make Your Computer a DSi Hot Spot

A hot spot is a place where you can connect to the Internet with a wireless-equipped device. You can set up your computer to act as a hot spot for other Wi-Fi devices, such as a notebook computer or Nintendo DSi. The Nintendo DSi can see and join your hot spot just like any other Wi-Fi game console. The setup process takes only a few simple steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Scroll to the Windows button on the bottom left corner of your screen. Click "Control Panel." Click "View Network Status and Tasks" and, under "Access Type," click the connection name you are using. A dialog box will appear.

    • 2

Click "Properties" and the "Sharing" tab to the right. Select the box for "Allow Other Network Users to Connect Through This Computer's Internet Connection." Under "Home Networking Connection," click the drop-down button to select "Wireless Network Connection" and click "OK." Close the dialog box.

    • 3

Choose "Set Up Connection or Network." A dialog box will appear. Under "Choose a Connection Option," select "Set Up a Wireless Ad Hoc (Computer-To-Computer) Network and click "Next."

    • 4

Create a name for your network. Select "WEP" as your security type, create a password and click "Next." Your network is now ready to be used.
