How to Find Lugia in SoulSilver Part 1

Lugia is the legendary Psychic/Flying-type Pokemon available in "Pokemon SoulSilver." Lugia is a very powerful Pokemon encountered at level 45. Battling Lugia is a major plot point in the game. Lugia's weaknesses are Bug and Electric-type Pokemon, so it would be wise to use those two types. Conversely, avoid using Fighting-type or Ground-type Pokemon, as Lugia will defeat those with little to no trouble. Although you do not have to capture Lugia to complete the game, there is only one Lugia per game, so if you defeat it, you will not get another chance to capture it.

Instructions

  Defeat Team Rocket and the Kimono Girls to obtain the "Silver Wing."

  Fly to Olivine City and travel to the left on Route 40. Use a Pokemon that knows "Surf" to continue onto Route 41. Make sure you have a Pokemon that knows the move "Whirlpool" in your party.

  Travel to the upper right island from Route 41 and use "Whirlpool" to enter the island.

  Travel as far right as you can until you come to two separate paths. Take the upper path and go up, then travel down the ladder. This will take you to another ladder. Go down that ladder as well. Show the "Silver Wing" to the old man and continue through the bottom portion of the cavern. Once you get to the area with a large body of water in the center, the Kimono Girls will ring the Tide Bell to summon Lugia.

  Go up to Lugia and press "A" to begin the battle.
