How to Use Pokeradar to Get Shinies

In "Pokemon Diamond" and "Pearl," players normally have a 1 in 8,192 chance of finding a Shiny Pokemon in the wild. Nintendo released a new tool that can increase this chance to 1 in 200. This Poketch is the Pokeradar. Players can use the Pokeradar to create chains. The bigger the chain, the more likely you will encounter a Shiny. Unfortunately, chains are easy to break, which is why many people use Repels while chaining to get Shiny Pokemon.

Instructions

    • 1

Spot all 150 Sinnoh Pokemon to complete the regional Pokedex. Speak to Professor Rowan and he will give you the Pokeradar, along with the National Pokedex. Buy 50 to 99 Max Repels from a PokeMart. Go to any patch of long grass on any route.

    • 2

Use a Max Repel to reduce the chances of breaking your chains. Go to "Key Items" in your inventory and select the Pokeradar. Look for shaking patches of grass. Walk to one of the shaking patches and defeat the Pokemon.

    • 3

Walk 50 steps after defeating the wild Pokemon. You must recharge you Pokeradar by taking 50 steps. Use the Pokeradar and go to a patch of grass that shakes in the same way as the previous patch.

    • 4

Have a Pokemon with the "Static" or "Magnet Pull" ability if you're trying to catch a shiny that is an Electric- or Steel-type. Don't walk into the corners or edges of the long grass to avoid breaking your chain.

    • 5

Continue chaining using the Pokeradar. Whenever your Max Repels run out, use another one to prevent breaking the chain. During your chaining, you will eventually see a patch of grass that sparkles. Walk into this patch of grass to encounter a Shiny Pokemon.
