How to Catch Steelix on Pokemon Ranger

In "Pokemon Ranger," players navigate through the world, temporarily catching Pokemon to assist them as they fight against the notorious criminal gang, the Go Rock Squad. This group possesses the rock snake Pokemon, Steelix, which players can steal and use. Although players cannot acquire Steelix until near the end of "Pokemon Ranger," its abilities make it a formidable opponent as you move through the remainder of the game.

Instructions

  Complete the first seven of the 10 missions in "Pokemon Ranger." Mission Seven takes you to Summer Town, where you must complete the mission without allowing your partner to touch any bugs. After completing the mission, go to the submarine in Summer Town to start mission eight, which leads you to Win Town.

  Listen to the conversation that occurs when you enter this area. After it ends, follow the man who walks away to the next location. Head north to access the next area. Move north again to enter the third area. A man appears here standing outside of a cave. Go west through several rooms to capture other Pokemon, including a Poliwrath. Return to the area with the cave and head north to enter it.

  Awaken the sleeping Steelix in the cave using your Poliwrath. Steelix will disappear, leaving behind a large hole. Ensure that you have two water-type Pokemon in your party. Return to previous areas to capture them, if necessary. Enter the hole left by Steelix to enter the next area.

  Listen to the man in this room speak to another player as you move down the stairs. Go to the right to encounter a group of Pokemon blocking your pat. They are parents searching for their children.

  Take note of the types of Pokemon there. You will need to capture a version of each of them. Head north and enter the hole at the end of the path. You land in a watery area with multiple exits.

  Take the exit directly to the left to find each Pokemon's child. Capture the Pokemon children and return to where the Pokemon parents' original location. Follow them as they migrate into the next area.

  Capture a Piloswine, Raichu and a fire-type Pokemon before proceeding up the stairs in this room. Use your fire-type Pokemon to melt the giant ice blocks in your path to move to the next area. Save your game. Continue to move about this area until a red exclamation mark appears above your head, signaling the arrival of Steelix.

  Use your water-type and fighting-type Pokemon against Steelix to weaken it. Attacks that could stun it, such as Stun Spore, may also prove useful in battle. After stunning Steelix, quickly draw loops around Steelix until the game informs you of its capture.
