How to Change Your Card Color on Pokemon SoulSilver

Checking your Trainer Card in "Pokemon SoulSilver" lets you see a variety of information, such as the badges you've earned and how long you've played. You can sign the back of your card using the Nintendo DS stylus, check when you beat the Elite Four for the first time and look at your wireless details as well. Certain milestones in the game earn stars, which in turn change the color of your Trainer Card. Figuring out just what to do to earn stars and change the card's color may seem confusing at first, and the requirements to earn the stars are difficult to meet but the sense of accomplishment once you earn all five stars and get the black Trainer Card is worth it.

Instructions

    • 1

Start a new game and name your trainer to get the default red Trainer Card with no stars.

    • 2

Beat the Elite Four to earn your first star and get the blue Trainer Card.

    • 3

Finish the National Pokedex, capturing all non-event Pokemon. In the end you will have 484 Pokemon in your Pokedex, not counting any of the event Pokemon such as Mew, Arceus, Jirachi or Celebi. This will earn you another star and the green Trainer Card.

    • 4

Find five Shiny Leaves with one Pokemon, which can be a time-consuming process. Talk to the Pokemon following you on the worldmap while in tall grass, and, in rare instances, it may find a Shiny Leaf. Once you've found five you'll earn another star and turn your Trainer Card pink.

    • 5

Play the 10 Pokeathlon events and beat the records in each one to get the silver Trainer Card and your fourth star.

    • 6

Head to the Battle Tower and get a 100-win streak for your fifth and final star, earning the elusive black Trainer Card.
