SpongeBob Games for a DSi

Fans of the cartoon character SpongeBob have many choices when it comes to games for the DSi, one of the many popular Nintendo handheld gaming systems. The DSi was released in 2009 as an upgrade to the DS, and is similar to the DS but with modifications such as a larger screen, longer-lasting power and brighter colors. Not only does the DSi come with DSi-only games, but you can play all DS games on the DSi.
  1. Action

    • Nintendo has released two different SpongeBob games in the action category, giving fans of the cartoon character a way to have an interactive experience on their DSi. "Atlantis SquarePantis" was released in 2007 and can be played with up to four players who each have their own DS or DSi system. The game allows you to be one of six characters, including SpongeBob, Patrick, Plankton and Squidward, as you go an an adventure to Atlantis to uncover its many secrets. The second action title for the DS and DSi is "Globs of Doom," which features SpongeBob going to the other Nicktoon's character's environments for an action-adventure game.

    Adventure

    • If you are a fan of the adventure games, there are two SpongeBob titles. Released in 2008, "Drawn To Life" allows up to four players to play this side-scrolling game with a variety of mini-games, lands, racing and platforming styles. You start out using the stylus to draw your own SpongeBob character, and control that character throughout the game. In 2009, Nintendo introduced "Truth Or Square," which follows SpongeBob as he seeks help from his friends to find the stolen recipe for krabby patties.

    Party and Simulation

    • For a more relaxed SpongeBob game, you can play a party genre game such as Boating Bash. Released in 2010, "Boating Bash" lets you drive boats as you explore everything Bikini Bottom has to offer. For a simulation-style game, you can play "The Big One - Beach Party Cook-Off," which is a simulation-action game where you use the stylus to create dishes, play mini-games and pick the menu for your day job as a fry cook.

    Platformer

    • Before the DSi was released, Nintendo introduced "Yellow Avenger," a platformer game with SpongeBob acting like his favorite superhero, Mermaidman. As with all DS games, "Yellow Avenger" can be played with the DSi as well. You will have access to all of Mermaidman's powers, including the superhero belt, water ball, raging whirlwind, summoning sea creatures, super speed and super strength.
