How to Train a Cleric on Disgaea for DS

The Cleric serves an important role as the dedicated healing class in "Disgaea: Hour of Darkness" and the remake "Disgaea DS." The only way to gain experience in "Disgaea DS" is by killing an enemy. This is extremely difficult as a Cleric due to the lack of offensive spells and terrible weapon abilities for anything, except a staff. This is not a viable weapon since the main purpose of the staff is to augment spell casting, not as a dedicated melee weapon.

Instructions

    • 1

Weaken an enemy with your melee or damage dealing characters until it is almost dead.

    • 2

Attack this enemy with the Cleric to kill it. You gain experience, but more importantly, you will also gain mana.

    • 3

Repeat Step 1 and Step 2 until the Cleric has at least ten mana.

    • 4

Use the "Create New Character" proposal in the Dark Assembly with your Cleric. Choose to make a Mage or Skull. The Skull is just a male version of the Mage class. It does not make a significant difference what color Mage you choose. The Mage is now the pupil of your Cleric.

    • 5

Place the Mage directly next to your Cleric during a battle. The offensive spells known by that Mage now appear in your Cleric's list with a casting ability of zero. The spells are not accessible if the Mage is not adjacent to the Cleric.

    • 6

Cast the offensive spells using your Cleric until you are notified the spell is now level one. Once the spell reaches level one, the Cleric permanently knows it and no longer needs to be next to the Mage to use it.

    • 7

Kill enemies using the offensive spells learned from the Mage. The Cleric has a high amount of intelligence and staff skill, which means she does about as much damage as an actual Mage when using it. This makes killing enemies and earning experience to train the Cleric to higher levels very easy.
