How to Get Arcanine in Pokemon Soul Silver

Each generation of the Nintendo "Pokemon" video-games contains two games, released as a pair. "Pokemon SoulSilver" was released in tandem with "Pokemon HeartGold," and there are certain Pokemon which are only available in one title or the other -- this means that you need to trade between the two in order to complete your Pokedex. Arcanine, a powerful Fire-type Legendary Pokemon, can only be caught in "Pokemon HeartGold," but you can get it in "SoulSilver" by trading.

Instructions

    • 1

Start up "Pokemon HeartGold" on one Nintendo DS and "Pokemon SoulSilver" on the other.

    • 2

Catch a Growlithe in "Pokemon HeartGold." They can be found on Route 7, Route 8, Route 37, Route 36, Route 37, and Route 48 and are weak against Rock and Ground-type Pokemon.

    • 3

Take your Growlithe to Route 25 in the Kanto region and show it to Bill's Grandfather. He will give you a Fire Stone.

    • 4

Use the Fire Stone on your Growlithe, and it will evolve into Arcanine.

    • 5

Go to a PokeCenter and head upstairs to the trading area. Do this in both games on both Nintendo DS consoles and they will connect via the DS Wi-Fi network.

    • 6

Choose a Pokemon in "SoulSilver" which you want to trade for the Arcanine. Select Arcanine in "HeartGold," and select Trade. You will now have Arcanine in SoulSilver.
