How to Master Voltorb Flip

"Voltarb Flip" is a mini-game that debuted on the Nintendo DS games "Pokemon SoulSilver" and "Pokemon HeartGold." The object of "Voltorb Flip" is to flip over all of the tiles marked "2" and "3" without flipping over any tiles bearing the image of a Voltorb. Flipping over tiles marked with a "1" gets you points but does not help you clear levels. Beating the game is as much a matter of luck as strategy, but you can do a few things to improve your chances.

Instructions

    • 1

Flip over all of the cards in the rows and columns with zero Voltorbs. There is no risk of flipping over a Voltorb tile, and you will earn coins and help yourself out when you flip over cards in the other rows or columns.

    • 2

Find the columns or rows that have Voltorb and coin counts that add up to five. Don't flip over any tiles in these columns yet because they will either be a Voltorb or a "1." Use the memo pad to mark the tiles as either a "1" or a "Voltorb." To use the memo pad, move your stylus over to the right side of the screen and tap the "Open" button. Press the "X" button to close the memo pad.

    • 3

Locate the columns and rows that have coin counts that are higher than five. These are going to have the tiles that pay out the most coins. Flip over the unmarked tiles in these rows and columns.

    • 4

Add up the coins you have earned in each column or row before you flip a tile marked as a "Voltorb" or "1." If you have found six coins in a row of seven and you have two marked tiles left, don't flip either tile over. The risk outweighs the reward.
