What Games Will the Nintendo DSi XL Play?

The DSi XL is a special-edition Nintendo DSi that allows you to take your video games on the go. The differences between the XL and a regular DSi are that it has a larger screen and plays different games than other DSi models.

DS Games
- DSi XL systems play two types of games. The first are physical Nintendo DS games. These games are available at electronic, toy, department and game stores. DS games play in all models of the DS (though 3DS games do not have 3D features in any system but the 3DS). Games are available in a variety of genres and for different age groups.
DSiWare
- The second type of games the DSi XLs plays is DSiWare that is downloaded through the system. To complete this, you must connect the system to a Wi-Fi connection and choose from the online catalog. You may need to purchase DSiWare with a credit or game card. These games are stored on the external memory.
Other Games
- Other versions of the DS also play Game Boy Advance games. The DSi XL is not one of these systems; it is the only version of the DS that does not play Game Boy Advance games. Some Game Boy Advance games may be available as DS games or as a download.
Accessories
- DSi XL accessories may differ from accessories for other systems because of its size. Though you can use the same stylus, the screen is larger so you need different cases, lights and protective screens. When purchasing accessories, look for DSi XL capability.
