How to Put Games on Your Acekard 2i

Homebrewed Nintendo DS roms, or virtual game cartridges, have always been problematic by the very nature of their user-generated manufacture. Aside from the expected glitches in playability of homemade games, they can also be difficult to load onto your DS. But with the help of the Acekard 2i cartridge, you can play your homebrew games on your DS like you would with any commercial game cartridge.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a MicroSD card into its card slot on your computer. If your computer doesn't have a MicroSD card slot, you'll need to use a USB card reader. When the Windows AutoPlay menu appears, click on the "Open folder to view files" option to open the MicroSD card's contents in a folder.

    • 2

Download a copy of the "AK2/AK2i loader" file. Double-click on the file to open it in a folder. Drag and drop the contents of the "AK2/AK2i loader" file into the MicroSD card's folder.

    • 3

Right-click inside of the MicroSD card's folder. Highlight the "New" heading in the context menu that appears, and then click on the "Folder" option. Name this folder "Game" as it will be used to store your ROM games.

    • 4

Open the folder on your computer that contains your roms. Drag and drop the ROM you want to play on your DS into the MicroSD card's "Game" folder.

    • 5

Remove the MicroSD card from your card slot or USB card reader. Insert the MicroSD card into the slot at the top of your Acekard 2i, with the card's contact point facing the back of the Acekard. Insert your Acekard 2i into your Nintendo DS as you would with any game cartridge.
