How to Play My Mathematical Life

"My Mathematical Life" is an educational game developed by Sunburst. The game is a life simulation from high school graduation to retirement. Geared toward middle school and high school students, players must give their character important financial, educational and career advice. Students learn to read actuarial charts, use percentages, calculate interest and understand credit card rates. The gameplay is basic and the controls are simple. To play the game, follow the on-screen instructions and use your cursor to select options.

Instructions

      Load the game and select "Start New Game."

      Choose a name for your character from the drop-down menu. Select up to four personality traits for your character.

      Select "Choose Career." Choose a career from the drop-down menu. Select "Bureau of Job Statistics" to see the average salary, hours worked and education required for your career choice.

      Select "Set Goals." You must set a Happiness, Money and Health level you want to reach for your character. Click the "Up" or "Down" arrows to adjust each level.

      Click the "Weekly Planner" icon to select activities for the week. Activities range from piano lessons to exercise.

      Click "Marketplace" to purchase food, cars, houses, insurance and other items.

      Balance your finances and character happiness to reach your goals set at the beginning of the game. The goal of the game is to reach retirement.
