The Easiest Way to Catch All Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Platinum

"Pokemon Platinum" provides a huge number of legendary Pokemon to capture through the course of the game. The main storyline includes eight different legendary Pokemon, and another five become available after obtaining the National Pokedex. Special events provide another six, which are harder to get than the others and not technically available in-game anymore without trading or cheating.

Instructions

  1. Capture Strategy

    • 1

Prepare your team for tracking down the legendary Pokemon scattered across Sinnoh. Add a Pokemon that knows a move such as Hypnosis or Yawn to put the enemy to sleep.

    • 2

Stock up on plenty of Pokeballs. The Dusk Ball provides the highest boost to the capture rate when used at night or inside caves, making it useful because of the number of legendary Pokemon that live in caves. Ultra Balls, Timer Balls and various other Pokeball types may also come in handy depending on the circumstances.

    • 3

Save your game while standing in front of any stationary legendary Pokemon.

    • 4

Challenge the legendary Pokemon, and chip its HP down into the red. Put it to sleep, then throw a Pokeball. If the legendary Pokemon escapes, keep throwing Pokeballs until you capture it.

    • 5

Reset the game if you run out of Pokeballs or accidentally knock the legendary Pokemon out, then repeat step four.

    Finding the Legendaries

    • 6

Visit the Distortion World to face Giratina. You cannot beat the game without fighting this Pokemon, and must either catch or defeat it to continue the plot. Use the strategy outlined above to capture the ghost/dragon-type Giratina.

    • 7

Speak to Professor Rowan after exiting the Distortion World to make the Sinnoh Legendary Trio appear. Uxie stays at Lake Acuity, while Azelf lives at Lake Valor. Approaching Mesprit at Lake Verity triggers it into wandering the world map, where you will need to track it down. Each of these psychic-type legendary Pokemon are level 50.

    • 8

Get the Adamant and Lustrous Orbs from Mount Coronet. Head to Celestic Town and speak to the woman in the large house. Return to the Spear Pillar at the top of Mount Coronet and enter the blue portal to find Dialga. Catch Dialga, and leave the area. Head back to the same screen where you found Dialga and enter the pink portal to face Palkia. These two are each level 70.

    • 9

Fly to Canalave City and talk to the sailor in the house next to the boat. Talk to the other people around town after he tells you his son is trapped in a nightmare. Talk to the sailor again once you have found out you will need the Lunar Wing found on Fullmoon Island and sail there. Head up the path, where you will see Cresselia fly away and leave the Lunar Wing behind. Take the Lunar Wing and then go back to Canalave to cure the boy. Cresselia will not be wandering the map like Mesprit and can be encountered at random.

    • 10

Head to the Pal Park to talk to Professor Oak, then visit Eterna City and talk to him again. Get the upgrade, which triggers Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, the three legendary birds from Kanto, to wander the map at random, similar to Mesprit and Cresselia.

    • 11

Finish Stark Mountain, then go to the Survival Area to talk to Buck. Go to the Trainer Cafe for another conversation with Buck. Return to Stark Mountain again to catch the level 50 Heatran, a fire/steel-type legendary Pokemon.

    Manaphy

    • 12

Buy or borrow another Nintendo DS and a copy of "Pokemon Ranger." Finish the main storyline of "Pokemon Ranger" to gain access to Ranger Net.

    • 13

Go to Ranger Net and press "R," "X" and "Left" to open the password screen. In the US version, enter the password "P8M2-9D6F-43H7." For the UK version, enter "Mg35-Cpb8-4FW8" instead.

    • 14

Complete the mission "Recover the Precious Egg!" that the password unlocked to obtain Manaphy's egg.

    • 15

Return to the Ranger Net screen and pick the new "Check the Egg" option, which will allow you to transfer the egg to "Pokemon Platinum." Follow the on-screen directions to transfer Manaphy's egg to your copy of "Pokemon Platinum."

    • 16

Hatch Manaphy's egg, then breed Manaphy with a Ditto to obtain a Phione egg. Hatch Phione's egg to add Phione to your Pokedex.

    The Regis

    • 17

Catch Regice, Regirock and Registeel in "Pokemon Ruby," "Sapphire" or "Emerald."

    • 18

Transfer the three Regis over via the Pal Park located off Route 221.

    • 19

Put the three Regis into your party, along with whatever three Pokemon you want to take along.

    • 20

Visit Snowpoint City after obtaining the National Pokedex, and enter Snowpoint Temple. Descend to the bottom of the temple with the Regis in your party, and the Regigigas statue there will activate into a level one Regigigas.
