How to Use PokeRadar in Pokemon: Platinum

You receive the PokeRadar device in "Pokemon: Platinum Version" from Professor Rowan after you complete the Sinnoh Dex. When you use the PokeRadar, it guarantees that you will battle a wild Pokemon in the grass. With the PokeRadar, you may have an easier time finding Shiny Pokemon; once you have found 20 Pokemon using the PokeRadar, the chances of finding a Shiny Pokemon increases. Additionally, a few Pokemon can only be found through the PokeRadar.

     Step into any grassy area on foot. Make sure you do not have the bicycle equipped.

     Press "X" to bring up the menu. Select "Bag" followed by "Key Items."

     Select the PokeRadar from the "Key Items" menu. The grass will begin to rustle. A rustling patch of grass indicates that a wild Pokemon is hidden there. Touch the patch of grass to begin the battle.
