How to Drop Levels in Voltorb Flip

"Pokémon" video games offer many different mini-games within the main quest. Each of these mini-games possesses different goals and provides rewards based on time played and player skill. "Pokémon HeartGold" and "Pokémon SoulSilver" contain the "Voltorb Flip" mini-game. Voltorb Flip players reveal covered tiles in an attempt to avoid the electric pokémon. Revealed tiles either show the number of Voltorbs in that column and row or cause a Voltorb to explode, sending the player back to lower levels. Players may control the numbers of levels lost to play a seemingly endless version of the game.

Instructions

  Flip tiles to reveal numbers. Each successful tile flipped increases the level number that the player returns to upon finding a Voltorb by one. This means that if a player is on level 6 and flips 5 tiles before finding a Voltorb, she drops to level 5 if a Voltorb appears next. Three tiles flipped before a Voltorb would return her to level 3.

  Choose a Voltorb tile after flipping the number of tiles matching the level to which you wish to return. The exploding Voltorb immediately drops your level to the desired number. Voltorb tiles typically appear in areas next to revealed tiles with high numbers.

  Exit the game to collect your earnings. Earnings accrue throughout the match and the highest level attained typically determines the total of coins gained.
