How to Make Lugia Dark in Pokemon SoulSilver

Shadow Lugia, code-named XD001, is a legendary Pokemon introduced in "Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness" for the GameCube console. The original form of Shadow Lugia is Lugia, a naturally silver-colored Pokemon and the guardian of the seas. Lugia is often seen as the polar opposite of Ho-Oh, the golden guardian of the skies. Though it is not possible to transform a Lugia into a Dark or Shadow Lugia in "Pokemon SoulSilver" by standard procedures in the game, some players have discovered work-arounds.

  Run "Pokemon SoulSilver" with a hacked ROM via an emulator. If you already own "Pokemon SoulSilver" you can legally play the game on your PC using an emulator such as Ideas. Fans of Shadow Lugia have hacked a ROM to allow Shadow Lugia to appear in the game. The Ideas emulator and the altered ROM are available from links in Resources.

  Activate the Lugia code with an Action Replay game code device. Insert the Action Replay device and enter the code below. When complete, remove the Action Replay and insert your game. Place an unwanted or extra Pokemon in the second slot of your Pokemon party. Press the L and R buttons to activate the code and the extra Pokemon will be replaced with a Lugia who boasts many of the powers of a Shadow Lugia. The code is:

  Transfer Lugia. Though a multi-step process, Lugia can be migrated across a chain of Pokemon games to reach "Pokemon SoulSilver." Catch Shadow Lugia in "Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness." Transfer Shadow Lugia via a Nintendo Transfer Cable from the GameCube to "Pokemon Ruby" on the GameBoy Advance. Using the dual ports in a Nintendo DS, insert both your "Pokemon Ruby" cartridge which now contains Shadow Lugia and your "Pokemon Diamond" cartridge. Access the Pal Park and transfer Shadow Lugia from "Pokemon Ruby" to "Pokemon Diamond." Shadow Lugia will be set loose in the Pal Park and you will need to re-catch the Pokemon. Use wireless communications to trade Shadow Lugia from "Pokemon Diamond" to "Pokemon Soul Silver."
