How to Connect a DSi to Dial-Up Internet

Connecting your Nintendo DSi handheld gaming system to a dial-up Internet connection can seem like a daunting task for those who aren't technologically inclined, but with one simple piece of equipment you'll be surfing the Web with your DSi in no time. The built-in modem on the DSi works using Wi-Fi so it's not possible to plug a dial-up connection straight into the device, but with the help of a wireless router you can still use your dial-up connection to connect your DSi to the Internet.

Wireless router with a phone jack connection and AOSS support

  Install your wireless router according to its instruction manual, in a place that will provide a wireless connection where you most often use your DSi. Most routers provide coverage within 50 to 100 yards.

  Tap the "connection settings" tab on your DSi's main menu. Tap on one of the three buttons labeled "none" to set up a new connection.

  Tap the AOSS icon if you selected a router with AOSS capabilities and push the AOSS button on your router. Your DSi should connect automatically and give you the option to test the connection.

  Tap the "Search for an Access Point" button if you didn't select a router with AOSS capabilities. You'll be presented with a list of available wireless connections. If you're using a security-enabled router you'll be prompted to enter your password. Enter your password and the DSi will connect to the Internet and give you an option to test the connection.
